Only the Lions:

Well that is a way to celebrate a 75th Anniversary by going 0 – 16.  They fought for most of the game but, just like the other 15 games this season they lost. This will be a lasting mark on the whole organization and the players that were a part of this. Wow, this is very surreal to sit and watch this team set this mark and as a matter of fact, it wasn’t surprising.

Where Do They Go From Here?:

Yes that is the question that I am wondering and probably some of the Lions fans.  I was hoping WCF would clean house by getting rid of everybody in the organization, but with Mayhew and Lewand coming back well that’s not what the Lions fans were hoping for.  It would seem to me that Marinelli and the rest of his staff would get the boot but with WCF anything is possible.  I wish deep down that the NFL would step in and take over in some way and help get this organization turned around because with WCF at the helm, the Lions will be stuck in the same old place as always.  But hey, at least I have the NFL Draft to look forward to next April.

Too Close For Comfort:

The surprise of this game was that it wasn’t the blowout I thought that it would be. The Colts at times looked lethargic and they let the Lions keep the game close throughout the whole game.  The Lions were down by 8 going into the 4th Quarter and managed to tie the game up on a Kevin Smith 1 yard TD run and a Casey Fitzsimmons 2-Point Conversion. After that, the Colts managed to march down the field and score the go-ahead TD, and then tacked on another 3 points by Adam Vinatieri.

His Non Screw-Up:

Of all the screw-ups that Millen had done in the draft over the years, his only pick that he may have done right might have been Calvin Johnson.  The guy is just a flat-out freak.  He had a 33-yard TD Reception in the 2nd Quarter and hauled in a high throw while he had 2 defenders on him in the 2nd half.  My only hope for him is that the Lions can put together a decent enough team so that his talents will not be wasted in Detroit.

Future Hall Of Famer?:

Congratulations to Jason Hanson on breaking Morten Anderson’s record for most 50 and over yard Field Goals in a career with 41.  I was surprised when one of the announcers said that he might in the Hall of Fame someday.  Hmmmmm…. interesting I would have to think about that for awhile.

Could They, Will They?:

Their next game is against the Saints, who were basically eliminated from the playoffs with an overtime loss to the Bears on Thursday.  With that in mind, I wonder what their mindset will be now that they are not going into the postseason. Do they want to be the team known for giving the Lions their 1st win this Season?   We will know on Sunday won’t we.
