What More is There to Say? (Bucs 38 – Lions 20)

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

This is post is a day late due to laziness from me so I will make this one short. The Lions, at one time, held a 17 -0 lead early in the 1st quarter but then in grand Lions fashion let the game get away.  I couldn’t watch the game because of the blackout so I had to listen to it on 1330 WTRX, and let me tell you that it was hard to listen to the debacle. Going into the game, I thought they might have a slight chance to win the game and I was wrong.  Below is their remaining schedule and the prospects for them winning at least one of them is slim and none, let me show you.

11/27: Titans = Coming off their first loss of the season and looking to atone for it.

12/7: Vikings = Destroyed Jacksonville 30-12 on the road, while Detroit lost to the same team 38 – 14 at home.

12/14: Colts = 2 words, Peyton Manning.

12/21: Saints = As of now, Drew Brees is #4 in passing rating, #1 in passing yards, and #2 touchdown passes.

12/28: Packers = Have not won in Green Bay since 1991.  Also, Green Bay might be playing for a divison title.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank God the Season is Finally Over.

Well, the Ohio State game summed up pretty much the way the season went for Michigan Football this year. Coming into the season, I thught that Michigan would win maybe 6 or 7 games this season but not 3.  But I am going to give Rodriguez somewhat of a pass on this season, I mean he was trying to fit a square peg into a round hole with his offense.  But I think one of his mistakes was probably putting all of his eggs into the Pryor basket last winter and when he lost out, well we all know what happened.  I also can’t forget them losing to Toledo at home which was unacceptable, period

I think, I KNOW, Nick Sheridan is the worst Quarterback that I have ever seen play for the Wolverines. Him playing made me long for the days of John Navarre and that is saying alot.  Hopefully, that will be the last Wolverine fans see of Sheridan, I don’t if I can take another game watching him play.

I will try my hardest to scrub my memory of this season and totally forget what happend this year but I don’t think it’s going to happen.  Hopefully next season Michigan can get a Bowl Bid and I really don’t care if it’s the Motor City Bowl, just get into a Bowl.  If somehow they fail to do so, well then Rodriguez better watch the heck out.

The Sky is Blue, Water is Wet, The Lions Lose (Lions 22 – Panthers 31)

A Triple Double, or Double Triple:

The horrible Lions defense showed itself again by allowing both Carolina running backs to rush over 100 yards, and also the Panthers set a team single game rushing record against the Lions.  Gee, when’s the last time that a single game rushing record was broken against the Lions?

Different Quarterback, Same Results:

With Daunte behind center, he fell to the Jon Kitna syndrome late in the game when he threw a back-breaking interception in the 4th Quarter that put the game away.  That interception was one of his 3 turnovers in the game.  As for the running game, Rookie Kevin Smith had his first 100 yard game as a Lion which now I wonder why they signed Rudi Johnson in the first place.  Whatever, I don’t know what’s what anymore with this team.

Not Done Yet:

As crazy as it seems, but the Lions are still in playoff contention because they are only 5 games out of first place in the putrid NFC North.  They will be officially eliminated next week with a loss to Tampa Bay.

They are Halfway There (Lions 23 – Bears 27)

Well They Did Have the Lead in the First Half:

Yes they actually put together their best first half performance this season, despite they early miscue on their first possession. Dan-O and company, exploded for 23 points in the second quarter and looked good doing it.  Dan-O was throwing more to Calvin Johnson more and it paid off when he threw a jump ball for touchdown in the 2nd Quarter.  Everything was looking rosey for the Lions until the 3rd Quarter started and then the other shoe dropped.

Yet Another Lackluster Half:

After halftime, the Lions remembered they were the Lions and their offense was stiffled by the Bears.  Things at one time, started to look up when Kyle Orton got hurt. When Bears fans saw their Quarterback turn his ankle the wrong way, they probably thought this game was done because in came Rex Grossman.  Well as the story has played out over the years, the backup came in and played just decent enough to lead his team to victory over the Lions.  Oh yes, I can’t also forget the costly interception in the endzone in the 3rd Quarter that Dan-O threw that probably would have put the game out of reach for the Bears.

Only 8 more to Go:

The Lions have reached the midway point in their season, and are now the only winless team in the NFL.  They play Jacksonville on Sunday, and just a little side note for this game, Jacksonville is the only team in NFL History to play 2 0-8 teams back-to-back.  Also Dan-O is going to be out for a month with a hand injury so you what that means.  Begin the Daunte Caulpepper era!
