Don’t let the door hit you on the way out:
Wow, what a day, I would never of thought that it would happen this fast and this early. What was turning into an apathetic situation, now there is some glimmer of hope. I am glad it finally happened but this was something that should have been done a few years ago. It’s amazing why he held this job for so long, I mean the majority, if not all, of the organizations in professional sports would have canned his butt after the 3rd year.
Season still done:
Don’t get me wrong, this season is over, the Lions are not suddenly going to flip on the switch and go 11-2, or 10-3 the rest of the way now that Millen is gone. What happens from this point on, until the final game, I have no idea at all but watching their remaining games should somewhat be less stressful knowing that he is gone. I hope.
Who will it be?
Whoever comes on board to be the next GM, and President, has a big mess that was left behind by Millen. I wonder how many years he had set this organization back with his many bonehead decisions over the years, (like selecting Mike Williams in the 2005 Draft). I really, really hope Old Ford and the little kid select the right person, or persons for the positions, heck even if they have to put together search committee to find them. I can’t see anybody that would do a worse job than Matt Millen has done since 2001.
Light at the end of the tunnel?
This is a first small step in the right direction, but there is still alot of work that needs to be done. I really hope that this is the beginning of the turn-around for this organization. 50+ years is way too long.
