The Lions officialy kick off their 75th year of Football, by opening up the 2008 Season against the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta will have a rookie starting at Quarterback so what that usually means as a Lions fan, is that he will go 26-32, 412, and 5 TD’s. Hopefully with Detroit’s Cover 2, he will not have those kind of numbers but you never know with the Lions. In reality, they should easily beat the re-building Falcons at minimum of 17 points. Maybe I am eating the cornbread I have no idea, but we will see on September 7th, at 1:00pm.

Lions 27 – Bengals 10
Monday, August 18th, 2008Well, it’s only another meaningless exhibition game, so I am not going to get all excited about them winning. One of the things that could be fun watch this year is the emergence of Calvin Johnson. His first catch of the game goes to show much of a nightmare he can be to defensive backs in and around the NFC and NFC North. The defensive 1st string wasn’t bad at all, newly acquired Brian Kelly had an interception in the first quarter and in the meantime, knocked out Chad Johnson with a bad shoulder. In the 4th quarter Drew Stanton led the offense on 2 touchdown drives, on a 50 yard touchdown (I believe) and a TD run to cap the scoring for the Lions.
Their next game is against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday at 4:00pm at Ford Field.
